The resource identifies Kentucky criminal-record sources. It is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.
1. What This Website Is
This is a private reference site, independent from every Kentucky government office. It does not store official criminal records, obtain official checks, retrieve certified files, or submit paperwork for a visitor.
Its function is to identify records held by Kentucky State Police, the Kentucky Department of Corrections, the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry, Kentucky courts, and local agencies across 120 counties. Some pages also display tools run by third parties. Kentucky criminal history dissemination remains subject to KRS 17.150 and 502 KAR 30:060, while public-agency records requests are governed by the Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, and other applicable limits.
2. Rules for Using This Site
Use of Kentucky Criminal History is conditioned on an agreement not to:
- Use automated scrapers, bots, or similar collection tools against the pages
- Harass, threaten, or stalk a person using information found here
- Gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system
- Use site content for an employment, housing, lending, or insurance decision
- Interfere with availability or prevent another visitor from using the site
- Violate any applicable federal, Kentucky, or local law
3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination
Information from this website or a linked service must not be used to threaten, stalk, intimidate, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. The restriction is especially important for the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. KSP publishes registry information for public safety awareness, and harassment may be punished under KRS 525.070 and KRS 525.080. Registry data does not authorize vigilantism or any prohibited employment or housing action.
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
Kentucky Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not create consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Its advertising partners do not offer services through this site for reviewing applicants, rental applications, insurance eligibility, or creditworthiness. Information from these pages or linked tools must not be used to:
- Determine eligibility for credit or set insurance terms
- Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
- Make a hiring, retention, or termination decision
- Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit when regulated by the FCRA
- Serve any other purpose controlled by the FCRA
When a lawful purpose requires a qualifying check, use the official process specified by Kentucky State Police or an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider.
